Video MArketing for realtors in 2027, What Does It look LikE?
Realtor Debating If They’re Going To Post A Video Today
We live in a world of organic social marketing. I don’t care what you look like, I don’t care whether you’ve sold $2000 or 20 million in real estate. It doesn’t matter. Creating organic videos from your IPhone and posting them across all channels will only benefit you. Be authentic, shake the phone, take long awkward pauses, forget what you’re saying in the middle of your sentence. That is what makes people want to work with you.
Honesty almost all the realtors who I’ve worked with are older than me and they all want to look great on camera, which I agree should be the standard. Everyone should feel happy and confident on camera and that’s one of the key talents I have for making sure everyone looks their best. But understand that the reason why people want to look good on camera comes from from a theory I learned in college. It’s called cultivation theory.
Cultivation theory basically says that if the TV shows pitbulls biting people, when you walk outside you will be scared of pitbulls because you saw it on TV. It’s a real thing. I think that’s where people mind goes when they say they want to look good on camera. And to reiterate I applaud that and am all for realtors looking great on camera. Just understand that this isn’t the age of television. It’s the age of social networks and AI. What does that mean? I’m going to share a little secret with you. The professional videos with the drones and the fancy cameras and the music and text on screen that I create, those videos don't generate a lot of views. They generate business. When growing and improving your marketing as a realtor, you need both.
I’m not a realtor and becoming a full time realtor isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s a really tough job. The question is, how tough do you want to make it? How many pieces of content are you going to make in that open house (we both know people aren’t coming in today) before you get tired. Have you tried 20? Have you made 20 Instagram reels in your latest listing? If you answered no, you’re not alone. I have this conversation with almost every realtor I meet and I get a lot of business from my realtor network because they need help posting content.
Think of all the marketing you have done in your career. Maybe it was print marketing, maybe you posted a couple videos on Facebook, maybe you spent some money in the local paper. What if you changed the word “marketing” to “consistency”. Think about it, how consistent are you with posting videos. How consistently do you show up the closest billboard on I-90? How many emails do you send out to your database a month? Are you sending emails consistently? When you think about how consistent you are with your marketing, you may realize that you’re not that consistent. That’s okay, I know things can get busy. Maybe your marketing isn’t as bad as you think it is. Maybe you’re consistency needs to improve.
Let’s take TikTok for example. Imagine that every video you scrolled past was a droplet of water. Imagine that Tiktok was filled with so many droplets of water, it created a large stream. If you combined every Tiktok video in the world, that stream of water would be pretty large. Imagine if your buyer or seller was an animal who wanted to drink from their personal stream of water. They prefer it. If every TikTok you posted was a droplet of water, how many of your droplets would end up in other animals streams. Probably not a lot, because you’re not posting that many videos. Notice how I didn’t talk about the QUALITY of water. Because the algorithms don’t really care about that. If you make a banger video and people engage with it and share it, like etc, the algorithms will favor it, which is cool. But I’d rather have 50 videos with 100 views than 1 video with 20,000.
If you have a listing why not create 5 videos about how great the dishwasher is? Why not create 10 videos each with a different scenario for how the bedroom could be decorated? Talk about the frontage, talk about all the amazing places people can shop if they chose to live at your listing. Be funny, be authentic, don’t try to make a ‘viral’ video just be consistent. BE CONSISTENT! I challenge everyone who is watching this to post 10 videos this week. 30 seconds each. Don’t be perfect, be you!
What stream of water will you produce in order to grow your business?
